Fair Turn Order Dice is an independent digital implementation of the Go First Dice mathematical work by Robert Ford, Eric Harshbarger, James Grime, Brian Pollock, and related contributors, following the turn-order problem posed by game designer James Ernest. The permutation-fair five-d60 configuration used here was discovered by Paul Meyer in 2023. This site did not invent the model and is not affiliated with or endorsed by its creators, researchers, publishers, or vendors.
Rolls are generated locally and are not saved, shared, or connected to a campaign.
How it works
The five d60 dice use deliberately different fixed sets of numbers; this is not a random draw from 1 through 300. Each player receives a different die, and at runtime the roller randomly selects only one face from each participating die. The fixed distribution is permutation-fair: every complete player ordering is equally likely, ties cannot occur, and the property holds for any subset of two to five dice.
